Unique employee training program

Developed specifically for service and delivery organizations by Bark Busters, one of the world’s largest dog training companies, this unique employee training program is helping employers keep their people safe and reduce the costs associated with dog-related injuries.

Preventing dog attacks and dog-related injuries

Bark Buster’s Stand Rite No Bite® Dog Safety Program™ begins with a two-hour face-to-face session with Bark Buster’s dog behavioral experts. Offering an effective mix of theory on canine communication and the canine psyche as well as practical safety techniques. The training helps employees who encounter dogs as part of their daily work routines to:

  • Understand how to safely enter an area where dogs are present
  • Recognize the signs of aggression in dogs
  • Recognize and apply canine communication techniques
  • Learn techniques to avoid dog attacks
  • Deal appropriately with dog owners
  • Mitigate or prevent injury in the event of a dog attack

The program accomplishes these goals through direct instruction, interactive role-play, videos of real cases and interactive demonstrations. Participants also receive workbooks and a course certificate after successful completion.

Keeping your employees safe makes good business sense

Dog bites are a serious problem.
Approximately 4.7 million Americans are bitten by dogs each year, and 750,000 of these incidents require medical attention. 16,476 of these injuries occur on the job.

According to public records, the United States Postal Service letter carriers experienced more than 3,300 dog-bite injuries annually (based on data from 2001–2006).

Of dog-related injuries reported in 2006, 95% were not bites but other injuries, such as sprains and strains, caused by actions to avoid dog aggression.

Dog attacks are expensive.
According to the Insurance Information Institute, dog bites cost the property/casualty insurance industry $317.2 million in 2005. The average cost of a dog-related injury was $21,200 in 2007 — up 27% from 2005. Indirect costs of these injuries may be up to 20 times the direct costs. In 2005, 65% of dog-related injuries resulted in 1 to 5 days away from work and 35% required more than 5 days away from work.

By law, you must ensure your employees’ safety.

OHSA Act of 1970, sec.5.Duties, states that “each employer shall furnish to each of his employees employment and a place of employment which are free from recognized hazards that are causing or are likely to cause death or serious physical harm to his employees.” Such hazards include dog attacks.

Bark Busters Stand Rite No Bite® Dog Safety Program™ delivers a tremendous ROI by reducing the medical, insurance, legal and training costs associated with dog-related injuries.

Incorporating sound principles and simple strategies

Based on the same sound principles that have made Bark Busters one of the world’s largest dog training companies, the Bark Busters Stand Rite No Bite® Dog Safety Program™ teaches simple, effective strategies for avoiding dog attacks.

Bark Buster’s natural dog training techniques leverage the same communications methods, body language and voice control, that dogs follow as part of their instinctual mentality. Without the use of complicated or aversive techniques and equipment, our employee safety program teaches sustainable ways to discourage dogs from developing fearful or aggressive responses to household visitors.

Bark Busters Stand Rite No Bite® Dog Safety Program™ differs from other methods that rely solely on video, printed materials, and ineffective, even dangerous, equipment. The Bark Busters program is highly interactive and engaging and offers ongoing support to keep learning current. Experienced, Bark Busters accredited consultants deliver real-world experience and credibility to each employee safety training course.

Both employers and employees derive significant long-term benefits

Designed to foster a “culture of change” through ongoing education programs and incident review, the program relates to industry employees at the grassroots level through its direct collaborative development with the service industry. Bark Busters’ unmatched footprint enables a consistent national approach for larger corporations, while fostering an effective local support network. All Dog Safety Program instructors are Bark Busters Certified Trainers and are fully insured. In addition, because the program does not require dogs, on-site risk is dramatically reduced.

Delivering proven results

Based on over 24 years of practical field observations and experience, Bark Busters Stand Rite No Bite® Dog Safety Program™ has delivered proven results in employee safety for service and delivery companies and government agencies.

Country Energy saves more than $1.4 million
